Detention of Drug Smugglers in Mexico City

In Mexico City, a man was detained by members of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) when attempting to bring marijuana into the Reclusorio Norte. The packages with the drug were camouflaged inside a speaker that the individual was carrying during his visit to an inmate at the Male Preventive Reclusorio Norte, located in the Gustavo A. Madero borough.

During the inspection carried out by the Undersecretary of the Penitentiary System, the agents observed the man acting suspiciously, which led them to proceed with a preventive search. "They found approximately two kilograms of a green herb similar to marijuana, wrapped in eight packages made of brown tape in different sizes, hidden inside a speaker."

Following the discovery, the 45-year-old individual was detained and presented to the corresponding Public Prosecutor's Office, where his legal situation will be determined. It was confirmed that the detainee has a criminal record for aggravated robbery in 2000 and aggravated robbery in 2007.

In another incident, in the Iztapalapa borough, the Auxiliary Police detained a couple in possession of several doses of marijuana and cocaine apparently ready for sale. During a security patrol in the Miguel de la Madrid neighborhood, the agents observed a man and a woman smoking a cigarette with the smell of marijuana and proceeded with a search. They found bags with marijuana, capsules of a substance similar to cocaine, and sealed bags with blue face designs.

The 18-year-old woman and the 24-year-old man were detained, informed of their rights, and taken along with the confiscated substance to the relevant authorities to determine their legal situation.
